Man-made climate change has different impacts in different parts of the world, but it’s very unlikely that the whole Earth will start getting cooler in our lifetimes except in the case of a big event like a volcano or explosion.

So the greenhouse effect means that man made climate change makes the world warmer. If there was another type of cooling right now (like the types of things that caused the ice age) what you might see is a big expansion of the arctic, and lots more land forming because of falling sea levels (there might be new islands in the North Sea for example). I think some dry areas like deserts might actually get hotter and drier because cold air can’t hold as much water. There might be more droughts but also a lot more ice and longer colder winters… Interesting thought experiment but not likely with continued greenhouse gases…

That has happened in the past with the various ice ages, and we had a mini one in the 16th Century for a while! Look at the old paintings and see how much fur people wore to keep warm! Even though we now have global warming some places may get cooler – the UK for one will probably get cooler summers than when I was a child, and despite last weeks snow, milder winters

Climate change can be a naturally occurring process, so colder times, like in Ice Ages, do happen sometimes! This would mean more snow and ice across the planet as Stephanie said.

The current global warming is caused by humans and is having a big effect in a very short space of time (considering how old the Earth is, 150 years is a very short time period!) so unless humans change our habits it is unlikely that we will see any cooling off the world any time soon.
