81% of my company’s winter predictions are correct, about 8 in 10 winters.

Wind electricity generation need very accurate weather predictions to help know exactly how much electricity they will sell to the country. If it’s wrong there can be big costs for generating too much or not enough electricity! Also, for offshore wind weather predictions are really important to make sure men go out to service wind turbines in the safest weather possible! Hopefully satellite technology and clever companies like Chris’s company will help improve weather predictions all the time!

good question – 100% of the time for somewhere – depends on the country and time of year – and 0 elsewhere – an inexact science to be honest as we are still learning

I think this question has been answered well by the other scientists! I don’t personally make any predictions, but I rely on other scientists (like Chris) to provide good forecasts.
