• Question: Do you think predicting the weather could essentially save lives (e.g. floods) ?

      Predictions of the weather save lives by warning people in advance of extremes of rainfall and flooding, so that they can find a safe place to go.

    We recently had the first ever red warning for snow in Scotland. That weather warning told people to stay indoors if at all possible, not travel for work, and to be extra careful if you do need to travel. This caused some chaos as lots of things were closed but actually it saved lives because the snow was very dangerous to travel in!
